After a very long week back home in North Dakota for my sister McKynzie’s wedding, I had a bad case of the Mondays. I woke up at 4am to take my other sister, Tyler, to the airport and went back to bed. My alarm went of at 7 and I finally rolled out of bed at 8:06. I was tired, crabby and I knew that I needed coffee to (attempt) to jump start the 12 hour work day I was about to tackle. I have to leave my house in south Minneapolis by 8:11 to allow myself enough time to stop by Caribou and still make it to work on time. I got dressed half asleep and decided “No Makeup Monday’s” are going to start being a thing. The 10 minute drive to the Richfield Caribou felt like forever. I ordered my large turtle mocha, hot, with white chocolate, an extra shot of espresso, and headed to work.
I unlocked the salon, shut off the annoying alarm, and FINALLY had my first sip of coffee. And let me tell you, I did not wait long enough for that sucker to cool down and I think I burnt off half my taste buds. But, I continued to drink it because I really needed it.
So, thank you coffee.
For always being there in my time of need. Whether I get you iced on a hot summer day to cool off my heated discomfort, or when the air turns cold that first winter day and I need something hot to shield me against the frigid temperatures of Minnesota. No matter what the weather I can’t thank you enough for having a wide variety of flavors and temperatures. From a simple vanilla to my sweet turtle mocha.
The energy you give me is just enough to get through the day. When I can’t stay awake at work I go to you for assistance knowing you’ll help me keep my eyes open. On days when I work a 12 hour shift, I know you’ll be there to motivate me despite my unwillingness to do so. Without you every morning I don’t know how I’d be able to get up before noon.
Thank you for existing coffee. I don’t really know what I’d do without you, so for your existence, I am grateful. Thank you for making my day to day life a little but easier. You’re the best.
